Shanhua Elementary School, located in Shanhua District, Tainan City, Taiwan, is one of the most historically significant educational institutions in the area. Established in 1898, its origins trace back to the Tainan Mandarin Training Institute's Wanli branch. This institution was one of the earliest efforts to provide formal education in the region during the late Qing Dynasty and early Japanese colonial period.

Over the years, Shanhua Elementary School has undergone numerous changes and developments, reflecting the educational and social transformations of Taiwan. It has continued to serve the local community as a center for learning and growth, maintaining its role as a cornerstone of education in Shanhua District.

History of Shanhua Elementary School

Shanhua Elementary School was initially established as the "Wanli Branch of the Tainan Mandarin Training Institute" on May 1, 1898, following approval from the Taiwan Governor-General's Office. In May 1922, a higher-grade department was established. In 1941, the school was restructured and renamed "Shanhua West National School."

After World War II, on December 6, 1945, the school was renamed "Shanhua First National School," and in February 1947, it was renamed "Shanhua National School." In 1955, the Dazhong Branch was established (now Dazhong Elementary School). In 1959, the Dacheng Branch was established (now Dacheng Elementary School). In 1963, the Yangming Branch was established (now Yangming Elementary School).
